Who We Are
Team Mission

Who we are

We are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, “the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)  We are “made in the image of God” (Genesis 1:27), conducting ourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…to stand firm in one spirit with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel. (Philippians 1:27) We desire to honor Him in all we do; our attitudes (Philippians 2:5), our conversations, our modesty, and how we interact with others on and off the course. We are striving to be more Christ-like. We are learning to persevere under trials. “Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to all who love Him.”(James1:12)

Our team began in 2021 with a casual meeting at Barfield, led by AJ and Sarah Swafford. They created our name, ordered uniforms, and registered the Arrows for their first season of races. We were a group of homeschoolers who were looking for a way to be active, compete and build relationships. After a few practices together, Angela Bobo volunteered to meet up at every practice and lead because of past experience with running cross country. By the end of our first season our boys middle school team took home the first place plaque at the MSCCA championships.  We had a high school team with only three runners and a middle school team with 14 runners. Each year we have added more runners and had more of a plan for practices and meets. In 2025 Lindsey Miller started coaching our K-5 runners on the Little Arrows team.  Angela Bobo continues to serve as our head coach for both middle and high school.  Lindsey Miller is our Little Arrows head coach. Shelly McMullen is our team coordinator and registers all runners for the meets.  The Arrows Team has become more of a family and a community than just a cross country team. .
